Getting Here

Your package includes a Shared Shuttle to and from the San Jose Airport or a Taxi to and from the Cobano Airport. Transportation to or from other locations within Costa Rica will carry additional costs.

International Airport Information

We suggest booking your international flight to San Jose International Airport (SJO) Costa Rica.  It is also possible to fly to Liberia International Airport (LIR) but it is not as easy to travel from Liberia to our area.


You can book your shared shuttle by filling out the following form:


SHUTTLE SCHEDULE:  Leaving SJO: 6:30 am & 3:15 pm    Leaving Mal Pais: 6:45 am & 12:45 pm

The shuttle picks you up at the airport or your hotel and bring you to the ferry (approx. 1 hr 20 min.)  The ferry ticket is included. You will need to embark the ferry with your bags.  Once the ferry has completed its trip (45 min – 1 hr) you will disembark and meet the shuttle on the other side. The shuttle will take you the rest of the way directly to Indigo Yoga Resort or to your local hotel if you are arriving early (approx. 1 hr 20 min.)  The ferry has restrooms, two cafes, beautiful views and a fun beach-traveler vibe!

Flight – Regional

San Jose Airport (SJO) >>> Cobano Airport (flight time is approx. 20 minutes)

You can book your flight with Costa Rica Green Airways or Sansa Airlines

From the Cobano Airport it is approx. 30 minutes by Taxi to Indigo Yoga Resort.  This is a very small landing strip and there are always taxis waiting however you can book a taxi with Indigo by contacting them with the info above. Flights begin at $100 USD one way and a taxi is included in your package.


Playa Carmen and neighboring Santa Teresa are the biggest nearby beach towns and have many hotels, hostels, restaurants, stores, surf shops, ATMs and Doctor offices/Urgent Care Center.  It is about 2.5 km to Playa Carmen and 3 km to Santa Teresa.


There are two ATMs and banks located 2.5 km from Mal Pais at the ‘CRUCE‘ in Playa Carmen. There is also an ATM at most of the grocery stores. ATMs can carry lots of fees. Most places will accept USD.

Current Exchange Rate is approx. 530 Colones to $1 USD


We do suggest paying travelers insurance if your personal insurance does not cover you when traveling.

  • On the First Day of the Retreat checkin begins at 2 pm. 
    • If you need to arrive earlier your room may be ready or you can leave your bags with the office at Indigo Yoga Resort
  • We will have Dinner at 6:00 pm followed by our Opening Ceremony at 7:00 pm.


On the last day of the retreat we will have a morning practice or surf followed by breakfast and will finish by 10 am. 


Our daily schedule will generally be:

  • 08:00 am – 9:00 am     Breakfast
  • 9:00 am – 11:00 am       Surf Lessons
  • 11:00 pm – 01:00 pm    Free Time
  • 01:00 pm – 03:00 pm   Lunch
  • 03:00 pm – 05:00 pm  Excursion or More Surfing
  • 5:30 pm – 6:00 pm        Sunset Gathering
  • 06:00 pm – 07:00 pm  Dinner
  • 07:00 pm – 08:00 pm  Evening Gathering

Laundry is available next door or in Playa Carmen (next door to the Super Ronny Market) or in various locations in Santa Teresa


The amazing meals at Indigo Yoga Resort are all vegetarian. If you have certain dietary needs or restrictions, please let us know (i.e., gluten, dairy, nut preferences sensitivities or allergies.) Fish may be served on request for an additional fee.


Filtered water will be provided in cafe and the yoga studio. In general, do not drink tap water in Costa Rica without first purifying.


We recommend you consult with your doctor prior to your trip to get any questions answered.

  • All-natural bug repellent (All Terrain, Herbal Armor & Burts Bees are great!)
  • Lightweight, long-sleeved shirts and pants
  • 5 yoga outfits

  • Lightweight Rain Jacket (May – November)
  • Headlamps and/or flashlights
  • Yoga Mat or Yoga Towel (There are mats available to use)
  • Ceremonial Outfit (white or other)
  • Any snacks/superfoods you like between meals

  • Back Up Surfing Gear if you bring your own board (Surfing Equipment is more expensive in Costa Rica and any old gear will be welcome as a donation to us or to the locals you meet!)
