Smudge

 In Shaman & Ceremony

Smudging is a technique that is found in healing practices all over the world.  A sweet or pungent smelling incense is used to clear or remove any toxic energy from a space or individual.  In Peru Palo Santo is often used, in North America White Sage or Pine is used, in Churches, Mosques and Synagogues Frankincense or Myrrh is often incorporated into the ceremony, in Buddhist and Hindu temples many types of incense are often burned.   Each of these traditions is using the smell and smoke to push away anything that will not serve us for a ceremony or in a meditative space.  These incenses also carry calming and relaxing qualities that will make you feel more present for each ceremony.
